In our Global Packaging Department based in Trier there is one permanent position as Packaging Material Technology Manager – Sustainability next generation materials (m/f/d) within our Packaging Material Technology Team to fill. You will manage and coordinate all technical packaging related aspects during the project phase.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all Packaging Material development projects, specification management in SAP / PLM for the full material portfolio. Continuous Improvement related to JTIs portfolio of packaging materials in line with the corporate sustainability targets and consumer driven strategy
  • Ensuring that Packaging Material qualifications comply with JTI Quality Standards; from qualification of suppliers to validation on the packing lines
  • Accountability for deploying new packaging materials, Efficiency and Sustainability initiatives within R&D Packaging and developing & implementation within Regional Packaging Projects
  • Provide first level material technology contact within R&D and to Global Functions and Suppliers
  • Manage corrective and preventive actions for packaging materials resulting from supplier or internal nonconformities
  • Support the development of JTIs Packaging Material Sustainability Program

Qualifications & Experience

  • University degree (bachelor or higher) Packaging, Packaging Materials, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Polymer Science or Engineering; related field of study or relevant experience in industry field will be considered as an alternative to a degree
  • Several years of experience in the packaging industry within the FMCG sector as a Packaging Technologist (m/f/d) or Packaging Material Developer
  • Management background with experience in the cigarette packaging industry would be a plus

Skills, Competencies & Languages

  • Excellent technical skills in the specification, development and implementing of packaging materials as well as packaging systems
  • Comprehensive project management experience from planning to realization
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of sustainable packaging and Life Cycle Assessment Tools
  • Excellent English knowledge both written and spoken; additional foreign language knowledge is advantageous, preferably German
  • Computer literacy; SAP, PLM and MS Office
  • Flexible and willing to travel
